NATO-Russia Permanent Joint Council Meeting At Ambassadorial Level
The NATO-Russia Permanent Joint Council at Ambassadorial level met on
Monday 26 June 2000, at NATO Headquarters.
Following a briefing on the meeting of Military Representatives under them auspices of the
PJC held on 6 June 2000, Ambassadors discussed the situation in the former Yugoslavia and
exchanged views on NATO-Russia cooperation in the international security presence in
Kosovo (KFOR).
Ambassadors agreed on steps to implement the PJC Work Programme for the remainder of the
year, adopted at the PJC meeting at the level of Foreign Ministers in Florence on 24 May
2000. In this context, Ambassadors held a preliminary exchange of views on issues related
to possible NATO-Russia cooperation in theatre missile defence. They also discussed the
issue of the ongoing negotiations on the terms for the establishment of a NATO Information
Office in Moscow and agreed that they should be finalised and the Office inaugurated as
early as possible.
The next PJC meeting at Ambassadorial level will be held on 24 July 2000.
